York Minster

York Minster is the cathedral of St Peter. It is the largest medieval church in Britain and is the seat of the archbishop of York.

The earliest parts of the present building (there was an earlier Norman minster on the same site) date from the early 13th century. The huge nave was started in about 1290 and finished by 1345. The three towers at the west and in the centre of the building were constructed during the 15th century.
