![]() Lincoln CathedralLincoln Cathedral, which is dedicated to St. Mary, is a superb example of English gothic architecture. Work on building the cathedral began in the late 11th century. In 1185 AD, the building was seriously damaged in an earthquake. The re-building work was not completed until the middle of the 13th century. When the central tower collapsed the famous Angel Choir was designed and built by 1280 AD. The new central tower was completed in 1311 and the towers at the western end were constructed from 1370 to 1400. |
