Chichester Cathedral

Chichester cathedral was consecrated in 1108, but much is the result of later rebuilding and restoration.

The original Norman church was destroyed by fire in 1114, was rebuilt but then damaged again in 1186. The current cathedral is largely as it was in the 12th and 13th centuries.

In 1861, the central tower and spire collapsed, but they were rebuilt by Sir Gilbert Scott.

Gustav Holst, the famous composer, is buried in the cathedral.
