And so Geb and Nut were kept apart. Ra made his daily journey across the sky (complete with boat, servants and one gigantic dung-beetle-propulsion unit).

Every night, Ra did battle with Apophis, the serpent of darkness, which lurked in the sea near the horizon. Each morning, Ra rose victoriously over the Eastern horizon.
