We had a very busy time in the R.E. department at FitzWimarc's Open Evening on Thursday, 18 October 2001.
Mrs Harrington had arranged a demonstration Jewish Passover Seder meal, ably assisted by some of our Year 8 pupils. To provide further insights into this, a video of Passover was shown and one of our computers was set up with an Interactive Haggadah CD-ROM. Elsewhere there was Islamic Art for visitors to sample, a Fitz R.E. Challenge Quiz for visiting Year 5 and 6 pupils (prize-winners to be announced next half-term) and another computer displaying the FitzWimarc R.E. website. Meanwhile, Mr Mayo was displaying work on masks worn by religious holy people in some primal religious traditions - no doubt calling on his experience of, and his artefacts from Papua, New Guinea. Assistance was provided here by Year 9 pupils. Again, there was a mask competition for visitors from local Junior schools, the results of which will be announced later. This was accompanied by CD versions of African music. There was of course much work exhibited on our wall displays, together with table displays of many of the resources we use. Click on the pages indicated below to view our photographic record of the evening. |
