 Here are a few ideas:
- It is evidence that you have successfully studied and considered a range of religious and non-religious
viewpoints about beliefs and a number of social and moral issues. Development of such knowledge and understanding, which itself
has been evaluated against one's own views and beliefs, would tend to lead to a well-balanced and tolerant character and personality,
a much needed asset in today's multi-cultural employment market. The need for such people has been felt in most areas of employment,
but especially in those professions where dealing with a wide range of people is part of the job - e.g. medical, police, teaching,
counselling, social services, marketing, export, import, customs and excise, banking, insurance and so on.
- As an academic subject, a GCSE in Religious Education/Studies, would contribute, as with any other academic subject, to your moving
on to Sixth Form courses and, after that, to Further and Higher Education.
- Beyond the question of "What use is this subject?" in terms of a job, there is its use in personal development. This subject
gives us the opportunity to examine some of the major issues of life. Getting a job and earning money is one thing, but people need
to have a purpose in life. A consideration of religious and secular views gives some insight on how to live life in a fulfilling
and satisfying way.
