Questions You Ask - No.4

If there is a God, why does He not answer my prayers?
This is not really an educational question but it may serve an educational purpose to consider a few ideas in relation to it:
  1. Do you listen to God and do what He asks of you?
  2. However, the question seems to be more of a challenge than a genuine enquiry... i.e. the "If..." appears to suggest a definite denial - "There cannot be a God because my prayers have not been answered."
  3. Further, the "If..." suggests a lack of belief in God, but belief, faith and trust seem to be a fundamental requirement for prayer.
  4. Then one would ask, "What about the millions of believers throughout history and the millions alive today who all witness that God has answered their prayers?"
  5. Then, thinking of God as "Our Father...", would good parents give their children everything they ask for?
Think of two good reasons why they would not.
  6. In the end, we cannot work out God. It is a matter of belief, faith, trust.
