- Rabbi
- This is the title given to an authorised teacher of the Jewish Torah and traditions of Judaism. He is likely to be the leader of a synagogue.
- Redemption
- The old idea expressed the action of buying back one's own property which, for some reason had been given up. The Christian idea is that God, through the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross at Calvary, has redeemed believers - bought back his lost ones. This is His work of salvation by which a lost humanity can be reconciled with Him.
- Reformation
- A movement which gained force in the early 16th century, initially calling for a Reform of many beliefs and pratices of the Roman Catholic Church which were considered to be corrupt or unbiblical. Ther Reformation led to the formation of Protestant churches.
- Resurrection
- This is a term used generally for the rising from the dead at the Last Day. In particular it is a term which refers to the rising from the dead of Jesus Christ after three days in the tomb, following His crucifixion.
