Sacrament
A traditional definition has been that it is an outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace or blessing. It is received through the rites of the church. The Roman Catholic Church recognises seven sacraments. Other churches, such as the Church of England, recognise two as sacraments of the Lord, namely Baptism and The Eucharist.
Sin
An act of rebellion or disobedience to what is known to be the will of God. Generally it is associated with what is bad and evil.
Symbol
A symbol is something which stands for, or represents, another idea or concept. It is a visible (or even audible) representation of a religious truth or reality.

These pages will be added to in the future. If there is a religious term or word you do not understand, why not e-mail us? It can then be added to the glossary.
