The National School
Standing in front of Holy Trinity School, and now "Amigo's Restaurant", this used to be one of the two 19th century schools of Rayliegh. This was the National School. The other, the British School, which was for girls, stands at the other end of the High Street, next to the Baptist Church. The school was a boys' school, aided by the National Society and managed by the Church of England. However, at the beginning of the 20th century, elementary schools were built in Rayleigh for boys and girls and the building became the Parish Room or Hall.
