Pi was depressed. Being everlasting wasn't as wonderful as the other decimals imagined. He was always being shortened and he didn't like that. It wasn't him when pupils wrote 3.14; it was only part of him and when he was written 22/7, he really did get annoyed.

"Fractions are vulgar," he said to 0.25. "We're not vulgar and I don't want to be vulgar. I just want to be a full decimal."

Just then 1.246 came in the room. "What's up?" he asked.

"The sky!" replied 0.25 cheekily.

"No, what's the matter with Pi?"

0.25 told him.

"Oh! I've got just the thing to cheer him up!" exclaimed 1.246 and he showed him the back of FitzMaffs issue number 5.

"Oh! What a nice man he is to do that for me." And once again, Pi was happy.
