Work Layout and Marking Policy

For Religious Education, work done in exercise books is set out in the standard way. On the top line, left hand side is written Classwork or Homework. On the right hand side the date is written in full with the cardinal number for the day, the name of the month, and the year. The Title is written centrally on the second line and underlined with a ruler, once. Sub-headings are written next to the margin and are underlined once with a ruler.
e.g.

         Classwork: 5 September 2004
                   | My Beliefs
                   |
                   |

Apart from classwork/homework, nothing else should be written in the margin. Blue or black ink should be used.

Marking Policy

  1. In each case the teacher will underline the error and, in the margin, use one of the following symbols to indicate the nature of the mistake.
  2. Three or four lines should be left blank at the end of every piece of work before it is ruled off. This space can then be used to write out any spelling corrections or to explain what has been done wrong.
  3. These corrections will then be checked by the teacher next time a piece of work is marked.
  4. Marks for attainment and effort, together with any targets, will be given.

p Punctuation

Spelling lists for R.E. are available for Years 7, 8 and 9.

From time to time, targets are written by teachers in pupils' exercise books and these targets are then transferred by the pupil to the appropriate place in his/her Organiser. Subsequently checks need to be made to ensure targets are being met.
