Holy Trinity Church - The Link

Entrance from the West

The Link was designed and built in the 1990s. Its architectural style is modern but blends with the main building of the church. It provides a link from the Nave to a modern cafeteria and, beyond that, to the church hall.

The new Parish Centre was opened on 18 February 1995 by the Bishop of Chelmsford. To provide this link, an opening was made in the church wall through what was once the old north doorway. Just inside this doorway, a fifteenth century brass is displayed. This depicts Sir Thomas Barrington (d.1416) and his wife Thomasine (d.1420). Sir Thomas was the keeper of the King's hunting park at Rayleigh. Unfortunately the brass has been damaged and the head broken off.
